Great Websites Made

Below, a portfolio of selected recent work. Since 2010, we've been involved in over 40 website projects for more than 25 clients: nonprofits, small businesses, designers, writers, lawyers and law firms, and friends. All of the below have been built using a content management system (CMS) like Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal. We provided the creative design for many of them; for others, we received design files from the client and built a site based on them. We are happy to work either way. For more details on any of these projects or anything else, we'd love to hear from you over email or via phone: (646) 450-2236. We hope that you have an excellent day.

Global Policy TV

Joomla CMS

Embedded video player, comments, members' only section

An existing client approached us with a challenge: to create an internet TV channel for moderate cost. We happily obliged.

Using Joomla, the K2 component, and a few programming tweaks to a template, we created an interesting, dynamic-looking site. It's feature-rich, too: users can view episodes, comment, rate, and share episodes on social networks. The site allows visitors to browse by category, by tag, and by popularity. And site admins have various options for "featuring" particular episodes in a slideshow on the home page.

Steven Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation

Joomla CMS

Searchable archives, online form submission

Having been deeply moved by the experience of directing the film Schindler's List, Steven Spielberg decided to donate his portion of the film's profits to help support a flourishing and vibrant Jewish community. He consequently established the Righteous Persons Foundation in the fall of 1994.

Each year, the Foundation gives a new set of grants out to deserving organizations, but because their web site had been programmed in Flash and HTML, it was difficult for Foundation staff to update. Our job was to retain the site's design and content, but to migrate the foundation to a content management system. Then, we trained Foundation staff to administer the site on their own. And now, everyone's happy.

Mobile Media Toolkit

Drupal

Multilingual interface, Solr search integration, members' only section, embedded video player

For this project, we implemented a stunning design created by Tim Merrill at Wonderwheel Creative and built out a dynamic, engaging website on the Drupal platform. The site has six different content types, five different views, Solr search integration, and a multilingual language setup for English, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic. And some smooth, fancy javascript flashes -- did we mention those?

Clean Currents

Joomla CMS

Homepage slideshow and newsfeed, javascript-powered forms, members' only section

Clean Currents, a green energy company supplying wind power to the mid-Atlantic region, needed a new website that they could use to encourage clients to sign up for wind power. Not only did it need to look good, but the company wanted clients to be able to sign-up online -- and to be able to export those sign-ups to a flat file format that their power company partners could import into their systems seamlessly.

We got it all done using Joomla, the easy-to-use content management system.

Partnership for Palliative Care

Joomla CMS

Integration with Salsa CMS, newsroom, embedded video player, custom javascript-powered map

The Partnership for Palliative Care is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization focused on promoting palliative care service expansion, research, advocacy and public education. Along with Douglas Gould and Company, we worked with the partnership creating a site to raise awareness about palliative care services and to help make such care more accessible to people living with chronic disease or serious illness. On the site visitors can share their stories, find helpful resources, or locate nearby pallitive care providers.

Yadouga

Drupal

E-commerce, product catalogue, lookbook

Yadouga, a handbag company launching its first line by founder Kirsten, needed an online presence that would communicate the look and feel of the company, as well as provide a stylish way to display its handbags. We built out a custom design on the Drupal framework that features a full, javascript slideshow-based online collection for users to explore, as well as an online lookbook. The site also provides a pre-order form for customers and integrates Kirsten's twitter feed.

JFK Magnificent Journey: the Art of Dr. Alen Salerian

Joomla CMS

Splash page, photo gallery

The challenge was: how do you create a site design that communicates both the aesthetic value and historical appeal of a series of over 50 paintings of the assassination of John F. Kennedy? And can we include the fact that the artist is an Istanbul-born psychiatrist who runs the prestigious Salerian Center for Neuroscience and Pain in Washington, DC?

The answer: carefully, and with a lot of thought.

The result was a site design inspired by 1960's-era campaign posters. We also integrated a splash page that integrates a file-folder aesthetic recalling the Warren Commission. And we let Dr. Salerian's art do the rest.

Global Policy Solutions

Joomla CMS

In the winter of 2009-2010, Global Policy Solutions decided it needed a new site. The client's old site, built years ago, looked dated and wasn't easy to update.

We built them a new site based on Joomla and a commercially available design template. We integrated the client's Twitter feed on the site, because much of the valuable discussion on policy was taking place there. We also made it easy for the client to upload any blog posts, guest articles, or announcements and show them on the home page. The result is a beautiful site that communicates constant discussion and engagement to users.
